Hidden Worlds at 826 Valencia Tenderloin

I just finished teaching a "collaborative worldbuilding" workshop at 826 Valencia. This was the second year I’ve done so and this time the class met in the new Tenderloin facility. It’s amaaaaazing (see the image below). The students ages 8 to 11 created hidden worlds in the newly opened center, located in places all around the room like, inside the crown of a boar’s head, in the treehouse, in a circle on the wall and so on. It was three sessions of wild creativity.

And I’m so excited because this years workshop gave me a TON of ideas for how to improve on next years workshop. (Or perhaps a workshop sooner than next year.)

Why am I doing this? There are so so so many reasons, but most of all because it’s brain-food, a mind-workout, and as they say, the more creative practice you get, the more creative you become. It’s also fun! At least it is for me ,and I did see a lot of happy faces in the workshop. There’s so much more to it, but that’s for another time and another place.
